Gaming – Mobile
- Victor Marquez
You don’t always need a fancy setup or an expensive console to enjoy gaming.
You can easily use your mobile to play games. A gaming phone is portable, durable, and can replicate any immersive gaming experience right in your pocket.
However, while buying a gaming mobile, you have to consider different factors than a regular phone.
What are these factors?
Quick Summary
After thorough research and testing, we’ve listed some of the top things you need to consider before you buy a gaming mobile.
So, without further ado, let’s get started.
What to Consider Before Buying a Gaming Mobile?
Processor
The core of a gaming mobile is its processor. This is why it’s the first thing you need to consider since it will determine the performance of your device.
The general rule is the faster the processor, the better.
So, which one should you get?
There are multiple high-end processors you can choose from including:
- Qualcomm
- MediaTek
- Exynos
- Kirin
- NVIDIA
Our top two choices are Qualcomm and MediaTek.
Moreover, when looking at processors, a good way to gauge their performance is by checking the size of the transistors. These are measured in nanometers.
So, the smaller the size, the more the silicon maker can fit into the chip. This means it will have higher performance and low battery consumption.
Besides mobiles, you should also check out gaming laptops. You can find all the information about laptops here.
Cooling System
Gaming mobiles are often under heavy load due to increased performance. The heat generated can shoot the phone’s temperature up to 60 degrees Celcius.
Therefore, they need an efficient cooling system to make sure the processor doesn’t overheat. This is because high temperatures can lead to a poor and choppy performance in the middle of the game.
With that in mind, we suggest you go for midrange and flagship phones since they can handle the heavy workload for longer periods of time.
Display
Obviously, you need a high-quality display for the best gaming experience.
We suggest OLED or AMOLED. They offer a wide range of colors, true blacks, higher brightness, and contrast ratios.
IPS LCDs are also a good option. They offer 1080p which is decent. But, if you want more pixels there are also phones with 1440p panels that you can get.
Besides the display, we also suggest the refresh rate. You want something with 90Hz and 120Hz. Any device with a 144Hz refresh rate is not worth spending over.
Fortunately, this is not a problem anymore. You can easily find affordable phones with a 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate.
Memory
Lastly, consider the memory and storage.
Since you’ll be playing multiple games on your phone, you need as much storage as you can afford. We suggest you have at least 120GB of internal storage but 256GB would be better.
Anything less would not suffice. This is because modern games are growing in size with every update. Installation alone can take up 1GB of space.
Conclusion
Mobile gaming is growing due to its easy access and affordability. As a result, many companies are constantly putting out new devices to meet the demand.
However, to find the best gaming mobile, you need to check its features such as processor power, memory, and display.
Other things to consider are hands-on experience as well as the library of games available.
