Gaming – Minecraft
- Victor Marquez
Minecraft can be an intimidating game for beginners.
This is because it isn’t like your typical video game. It is a virtual open-world game where you’re in charge of practically everything.
But, to do that and have fun, you need to understand the basics before you start playing.
Quick Summary
In this post, we will go over:
- Why should you choose Minecraft?
- What mode should you play in?
- What do you need to play Minecraft?
…and more.
So, without further ado, let’s get started.
Why Should You Choose Minecraft?
Most people dismiss Minecraft as an indie game that is too outdated for the gaming world. However, if you look past the graphics, there are a lot of appealing factors to the game.
The first one is the adventure. Every world in Minecraft is generated randomly.
This means you’ll never play the same twice. However, if you find a map that you love, you can copy its seed number and create your own copy of the world.
This brings us to our second point, creative freedom. Not only can you create your own worlds, but every part of the map can also be modified. You can cut, dig, build and reconstruct as your heart desires.
What Modes Should You Play In?
Once you start Minecraft, you’ll be presented with a choice of game modes.
If you want to use Minecraft as a digital Lego set, we suggest you start with Creative Mode. This is also the best mode for beginners. You’ll be given unlimited resources, and the ability to fly, and you won’t be subjected to threats from the enemies such as spiders and zombies.
The real game mode is the Survival Mode. This is also where things get tough. As the name suggests, you’ll have to survive different enemies. You’ll also have limited resources.
Hardcore is like Survival Mode but tougher. In Survival, you get all your stuff back after you die. From there, you can resume where you were playing. But, in Hardcore, the map is deleted when you die and you’ll have to start from scratch.
The Adventure Mode is a recent addition to Minecraft. Here, the game places restrictions on tools like the spade or pickaxe you might need to dig or mine stone.
What Do You Need To Play Minecraft?
You can enjoy Minecraft on all popular consoles, as well as Windows, Linux, and OSX.
However, before you start playing, you’ll need to meet the Minecraft minimum system requirements.
We suggest you put something together with an Intel Celeron J4105 or AMD FX-4100 processor, at the very least.
You’ll also need a good graphics card. We recommend going with either an Intel HD Graphics 4000 or AMD Radeon R5.
When it comes to storage, Minecraft will only take up 1GB since it’s small. However, the amount of storage you really need depends on the number of worlds you intend to create.
If you want to beat Minecraft, we suggest you upgrade to Intel i7-6500U or AMD A8-6600K. Moreover, you can pair NVIDIA GeForce 940M to increase performance.

Do you want to dig deep down to find diamonds or explore new villages? The choices are endless.
